Roses are red, violets are blue,
I’m just saying these things to
get a smile out of you.

I’m optimistic of the truths in this world involving us:

  1. You will never starve for
    lack of affection, this love
I want to give you has been
    forged over the countless
    heartbreaks and hospital trips
    to fortify myself for you.
  2. You will never die of thirst
from my mind, this is how we will pray.
    Undoubtedly and unconditionally.
  3. It would be sinful to watch and let
love go through trials and tribulations
alone. I never want to see you lifeless,
Drifting through the motions, stuck in
an everyday routine, I want us to find
    what rejuvenation looks like.

Roses are red, violets are blue,
the truths in these words are that
these colors represent the things
I am here to remind you.

Refresh

I’m wary of loving you
It is a foreign concept to trust,
Hold you in the only security
Blanket I can give in the shape
Of my arms, what’s peace?

What happens when gates erode away?
When the last fence breaks from the pressure
And holes that upheld are filled
Will the support still stand true?
I pray for a reassuring epiphany

The sun doesn’t smile the same without you
Beds have never felt this soft,
Comfort in the reassuring unknown
From living in this present, is a new
Form of acceptance in our adventure.

We laugh, we cry, we eat, we sleep,
We stress, we care, we invest, we
Reset, we converse, we bond, we
Still try to accept. I enjoy these
Rose petal discoveries. We feel.

The ability to free form a
stronger bond with one another
Without being weighed down
By societal norms that target the idea
Of a relationship forced upon us
