Scribe Magazine is a non-commercial platform and our team includes talented writers from all backgrounds across the globe. We do, however, have a strict policy against political writing and will reject any pitches looking to politicize the site to lean on either side of the spectrum. We’re an entertainment site, not a political platform.

The following are the areas we are looking to recruit:

Books – If you love reading books and want to share your passion, now’s the chance to do it! We accept book reviews, ending explained articles, listicles, and long-form articles about authors and genres.

Television – If you choose to cover television, we accept review articles, best episodes, and episode/season ranking articles for both regular TV & OTT platforms. Ideally, we’d love to get people on board to cover movies on streaming platforms, including new releases on AppleTV, Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

Movies – If you choose to cover film, we accept movie reviews, artist-featuring articles, listicles, and long-form articles too.

And many more categories like Lifestyle (travel, food-nutrition, beauty-skincare, fitness, music, Pop-culture, etc.

What Do I Get In Return?

Scribe is a fast-growing, agile site that receives anywhere from 1 million to 2 million page views with impressions of around 6-7 million and an overall audience of half a million on various social media channels.

Our major audience is from the United States, Canada & India. We’re also independently run too, which allows us to be more flexible.

If you wish to cover interviews or podcasts, you also get the added benefit of getting your own dedicated series on the official YouTube channel or the Official Podcast. It’s a great way to get your name recognized among the film fraternity and add a variety of content to your portfolio.

Please note that Scribe is completely a non-commercial platform as of now ie we neither charge nor pay anyone for publishing content.

It’s primarily a place for passionate content creators to help share their content with a wider and global audience of more than 10 million+ on all platforms together and hence is a community project to support deserving content writers and creators.

However, if you have a column upon the magazine you can offer Sponsored/Promotional articles, Featured Reviews as deliverables to any clients/brands in relevant categories (as per Branded Content Guidelines) and generate revenue via them.

Official Guidelines

No hard and fast rules there. We want to provide a platform that can do justice to the original thoughts and ideas of a writer, and we believe no restrictions or limitations such as word limits, format, templates, etc. must be applied to that.

  1. To maintain your author’s profile on the magazine, you need to submit a minimum of 4 articles every month or 1 per week (article, review, etc). Your Author profile will go live once 10 articles will be published (/submitted)
  2. We publish individual articles in the e-mag but only when they are part of a contest or event we sponsor or organize; Poetries less than 5 paragraphs are not published as standalone articles but as a collection of poetries. Also, any content which is part of any event or features will not be counted under your monthly submissions as it is part of the branded/promotional content.
  3. Although we don’t publish already published articles/content (even if they are your own) since it’d fall under content duplication. There are certain protocols set by Google, and we have to abide. It’d be great if you could share some fresh article of yours that hasn’t been published anywhere and we get this unique and endearing relationship going. Here’s a free online tool you can use to check the uniqueness of your article: plagiarismdetector.net. The maximum amount of duplicate content allowed is 2-3% (cases where you have to cite quotes etc)
  4. Once drafted, please share the article as an attached word document file with the email on magazinescribe@gmail.com (pdf, text, or any other file formats are not accepted)
  5. Further, even when your article gets published, you must not publish it anywhere else or even post it on your social media feeds. In which case, we would have to take it down from our magazine. Although feel free to promote your published work on any platform by sharing links or a post about it. That way, your content will not only get the appreciation it truly deserves but it would also help in retaining the relevancy and excitement value of the original published article.
  6. The content optimization team keeps working on new ideas and strategies to help make the content better so it can reach more and more people through the magazine by optimizing the content of the already published and upcoming articles. The part written by you would remain intact, just that some title, subheadings & some related info about the film would be added while making sure the core crux and essence and overall thoughts shared by you would remain as it is along with the complete credits, something which the platform has always kept a priority.
  7. In the same above-mentioned process team also keeps removing old or outdated content if they feel it is either not performing well or is not relevant anymore with the current audience so as to keep the content curated as per the readers’ choices.
  8. We strongly recommend a min of 700 words for a better search engine presence. Also adding a title is a must. If it is a poem, we suggest a min of 7 paragraphs. Any submission of fewer than 500 words won’t be considered for publication. Poems smaller than that would be published in the collection of such smaller poems.
  9. Also please submit the article as a document file (MS word file etc) and don’t forget to mention your Instagram handle in the subject, along with the title of the submission. You may also need to provide a short author bio (2-3 lines) and a decent picture of yours for your author’s profile on the magazine (which will be scheduled to go live once 5 articles have been submitted)
  10. You can submit your article(s) whenever you finish drafting. The rest of the scheduling of the articles is upon the Editorial Team as per the relevancy and context. They can be published anywhere from 2 days to 2 months from the submission date.
  11. If you’re an author on the magazine with your column, you aren’t eligible to be a curator with the Scribeing community and vice versa.
  12. In case you plan on visiting any film festivals and events as an established film reviewer/lifestyle blogger and columnist on the Magazine, you’ll also be entitled to receive an official letter from the Editorial Team which you can get printed if required to show to the officials or event managers
  13. If you’re part of the Blogger’s Program and have a column upon the magazine, you can only submit review articles for A-list/renowned Movies, TV Shows, or books. Any other reviews or articles will fall under sponsored/promotional content. (can only be published upon verification by the QA team)
  14. In case you wish to take a break due to personal or some other reasons you have to inform us at least 7 days prior to your submission schedule. In that case, the author profile can go on hibernate mode for 60 days max provided you submit the backlog articles in the upcoming months. If you fail to communicate on time, the Author’s column would be dissolved after the 60 days period assuming you aren’t interested in maintaining it.
  15. If you ever wish to discontinue your column or stop submitting articles, it will totally be the platform’s decision whether to keep any of the articles or remove them.

Please Note: To maintain the quality of content, we have only a limited number of Author columns available so we can always keep the content optimized as per the audience and readers. So please value your column and your readers.

For Visual content/pictures

  • If you are submitting any pictures along with your articles such as recipes or travel or photo blogs, please make sure you share only the raw files (recommended size in pixels: 1280×960).
  • If you wish you can add links to gifs from giphy .com (only that site is supported) or YouTube video links in the document (wherever they should get placed); we suggest not more than 1 gif after every 3 paragraphs as too many images or gifs can overshadow the main content (External images are not supported between articles only header images)
  • For the header image, you can submit the image (size should be 1200×675 at least) without the text part (the creative team will add it as per the brand guide)
  • Screenshots from your phone or social media feed or images processed on WhatsApp etc won’t be considered as such images tend to compress further upon upload.

For Podcasts

If you wish to get your podcast series hosted on the Scribe Podcast, you can submit the episodes the same way as the articles. External podcasts are not hosted or cross-shared via articles to avoid endorsing any un-curated content or content which is against the general community guidelines or platform policies.

For YouTube content

The videos must be in landscape (16:9) format and the content should be copyright-free. Try to use audio/sound effects which is copyrighted free. Please note, that we don’t publish or post any articles on our social media channels nor do we do any IGTV live sessions.

NOTE: Please note that Scribe is a non-commercial platform i.e. we neither charge nor pay to get content published. Our sole motto and aim is to help reach the content of passionate writers and content creators to a wider and global audience.

Once the articles are officially published on the Magazine or our social media channels, the Admin and Quality Analysis Team reserve all the rights to make any changes, edits, or take them down completely if they are not in line with the Magazine’s current guidelines or the writers are found to be violating them.

Unless you provide a genuine reason, your author’s profile will be scheduled to get dissolved in case you fail to submit (or respond to) any articles continuously for a period of more than 2 months.
