Lahorey or Lahori chicken curry recipe was a staple of Lahoris. Sometimes potatoes and Kabuli channe were also added to this chicken recipe and are still very popular in Pakistani Restaurants but not so otherwise.
Ingredients:
- Chicken 800gm
- ghee or oil 4 tbsp
- 2 onions ( ground to paste)
- 3 tomatoes ( ground to paste)
- ginger garlic paste 2tbsp
- green chillies 3 chopped
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- coriander powder 2 tsp
- green coriander leaves 1 tbsp
- curd half cup
- freshly ground garam masala 1 tsp, water 1 cup
Instructions:
- Marinate chicken pcs in salt and half of the ginger garlic paste for half an hour or more.
- In a wok, heat ghee and fry the marinated chicken pcs till they are a little brown.
- Add ground onion and cook again till the rawness of onions is gone.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook again. Add tomato paste and bhuno again.
- Add the spices except for garam masala. Cook again and add water. Let it be on slow flame covered till the chicken pieces are tender.
- Add beaten curd, freshly ground garam masala, and green coriander leaves in the end and cook again for a while.
Serve hot with roti or rice.
