Bottoms: Release Date, Trailer, Cast, & Everything We Know About!

Who is ready to get excited by some movies? Expectations and hype can be strong forces in the cinematic experience. The trailers, the rumors, the early reviews…these all can do wonders when it comes to getting people excited for a new film release. For this upcoming weekend, we have a few reasons you should be excited about this film coming your way… Bottoms.

Emma Seligman

Have you seen Shiva Baby? If not, you throw that on the top of your watchlist because it is a hidden gem if there ever was one! This is one of the best comedies of the last five years and it got lost in the crazy year that was 2020. It is a film full of tension and laughter and that is thanks to its brilliant creator, Emma Seligman. She is one of the most talented young directors working today and she is back with a vengeance…Bottoms. This is her next project, and it is really easy to get super excited about it.

Sennott & Edebiri

Why do high school films work so well with a dynamic duo? Superbad and Booksmart are perfect examples and Bottoms look to be the next beloved comedy on that list. You have a pair of talented young actors at the core of this new comedy, Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri. Sennott got the spotlight in Seligman’s Shiva Baby as well as projects like Bodies Bodies Bodies. Edebiri is killing it on one of the hottest shows on television, The Bear. We are prepared to see these two talents sparking some serious chemistry and having a darn good time.

The Laughs

If you take one look at the trailer for Bottoms, you will know that the laughs are going to flow! This film gives off a vibe that is over-the-top and absurd with a tinge of 90s high school films. Seligman and Sennott have a track record of writing some funny works so you should expect that in this film as well. The trailer sells a high-energy and snarky satire on 90s films and teen flicks and that sounds like a recipe for plenty of fun as well.

The Concepts

A teenage girl version of fight club? That sounds insane! It sounds hilarious. It sounds like a film that will offer up plenty of laughs and have a lot to say about society today. Yeah…that will go a long way selling Seligman’s latest film. This is only half of it too. Bottoms also offers up a lesbian take on the “getting laid pact” amongst friends. Keeping it all fresh with a talented cast should be a wonderful recipe for audiences to have a blast at the cinemas.
