Joy Ride: Trailer, Release Date, Cast, & Everything We Know About!

Who is ready to get excited by some movies? Expectations and hype can be strong forces in the cinematic experience. The trailers, the rumors, the early reviews…these all can do wonders when it comes to getting people excited for a new film release. For this upcoming weekend, we have a few reasons you should be excited about this film coming your way… Joy Ride

The Four Leads

This new comedy is offering up an exciting quad squad of Asian performers with the serious potential to turn a few of them into stars. The biggest name as of now is Stephanie Hsu riding high on her Oscar nomination for Everything Everywhere All at Once. This is an exciting prospect to see her let her hair down and have a ton of fun. Ashley Park has made her presence known on some streaming projects and she seems like a great leading force for this raunchy comedy. Sherry Cola is the real standout from the trailers and seems like she can be the big comedic standout like the likes of Melissa McCarthy and Zach Galifianakis. Then there is Sabrina Wu who is the wild card as the trailers leave this performance more of a mystery.

The Humor

Who is ready for a film with some The Hangover potential? Comedies are not in the place they were when that megahit launched in theaters, but this new comedy has some of the same energy. The trailer promises plenty of big and raunchy set pieces that lead heavily into sex and drugs. It is refreshing when you see some new and fresh talented performers who get that kind of opportunity as so many hard R comedies like this seem saved just for bro movies.

Culture Clash

Park’s Audrey is very much an American. Raised by white parents, she does not have a strong connection to her Asian roots. That leaves the door open for plenty of laughs and themes to be explored in this film. Just based on some of the gags and clips from the trailers, Joy Ride seems like it has the pulse with this fish-out-of-water tale.

K Pop

You know when there is a scene in a trailer (especially for a comedy) that seems like it will steal the whole show? That is the K-Pop sequence that is the final reveal in this film’s trailer. I can just imagine this scene becoming one of the funniest and most memorable scenes in film this year. That is certainly something to get excited about.
