The trailers, the rumors, the early reviews…these all can do wonders when it comes to getting people excited for a new film release. For this upcoming weekend, we have a few reasons you should be excited about this film coming your way… Scream VI
Scream (V)
It is hard not to get excited about Scream VI when the previous film, Scream, was so exciting and satisfying. We get to continue this story with characters who we have become connected with and developed a rapport with. We get to see the aftermath of their struggles and trauma from the previous installment. The tone and meta experiences of this most recent outing make it exciting to see those same ideas and humor delivered again. What makes it easy to get excited for a new film in a franchise? The previous outing exceeded expectations and left you wanting more. That is what Scream V accomplished a couple of years back and that is what we are ready for now.
New York City
Most of the Scream franchise has focused on the world of the small town of Woodsboro. It was a classic approach to return and take on a whole new crew of characters mixed with some of our favorites. But it is such an exciting idea to see this Ghostface killer let loose in the Big Apple. New York City is so dense and vast that we can experience so many crazy sequences and kills. We already know we take the action in convenience stores and subways but where else with this film take us? A fresh place and more times with these new characters make for some fruitful excitement going into the latest entry in the classic franchise.
The Cast
Jenna Ortega is so hot right now. Everyone has fallen in love with this talented young scream queen and we cannot get enough of her. But she brings her friends from the last film with her like Melissa Barrera and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Courtney Cox is back for one more go around (or more, maybe?). We even get some unlikely appearances from sequel stars like Hayden Panettiere. Throw in the likes of Samara Weaving and veterans like Dermot Mulroney and we have quite the stacked cast. This might be a big cheat…but who is the most important cast member? Ghostface…and of course we will get plenty of the mask too.
